Hong Kong visa for Filipinos: 14 days visa-free

The Hong Kong Immigration Department lists the Philippines with a visa-free period of 14 days. That is plenty for a long weekend or a week combined with Macau. If you plan to stay longer, you need a visa or entry permit before you travel.

What visitors generally need to show:

  • Adequate funds for your stay, without working
  • A return or onward ticket (unless you are continuing to Mainland China or Macau)
  • Your hotel booking and a clear plan help the conversation at the counter

Hong Kong’s pre-arrival registration applies to Indian nationals only, so there is no extra online form for Filipinos.

3-day Hong Kong itinerary for Filipino travellers

Day 1: Harbour and Tsim Sha Tsui

Land, take the train into the city and check in. In the late afternoon, ride the Star Ferry from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui, walk the Avenue of Stars waterfront and stay for the evening skyline. Night snack: egg waffles from a street stall.

Day 2: The Peak and Central

Take the Peak Tram up to Victoria Peak for the famous view (buy only from the official webstore or counters; the operator warns about counterfeit ticket sites). Come down to Central for the Mid-Levels escalator, PMQ and the old trams along Hong Kong Island. Evening: dim sum dinner and the Temple Street Night Market.

Day 3: Big Buddha or a theme park, then fly home

Ride out to Lantau for the Tian Tan Buddha at Ngong Ping, close to the airport, or spend the day at a theme park if that is your trip’s highlight. Head to the airport in the evening.

Money-saving tips

  • Use an Octopus card or a contactless card for the MTR, trams, buses and the Star Ferry.
  • Ride the Ding Ding tram on Hong Kong Island; it is one of the cheapest sightseeing rides in the world.
  • Eat at cha chaan teng (local cafes) for filling set meals.
  • Book Lantau and the Peak on clear days; on hazy days you pay for fog.
